Got these for my son who is training in C-172 and C-152 planes. Those beasts are noisy! These headphones are amazing. They are super comfortable and the noise cancelling is beyond belief. probably saved his eardrums! Should be standard equipment for anyone training in these planes. They are a bit heavy, but that's the quality of the build. A small price to pay for saving your hearing!
I was very disappointed with the Boes A20s. I really wanted to love them because of so many good reviews. I wore them at home and on several longer flights. First of all, they felt like cheap plastic. Which made them very light, but for getting in and out of planes quite often, I knew they wouldn’t hold up.
Secondly, the noise cancellation was no better than either the DC ones or the Lightspeed which I tried both. I don’t know if this was because of how they fit my head, but not impressed overall and I wouldn’t say they were worth the money. I returned them for the DC ones actually.
I went from a classic David Clark to the A20. I fly a Twin Otter and the difference is absolutely amazing. In the winter, when it is cold, the props make an ungodly racket at takeoff power. With th David Clark, I had to shout into the mic in order to hear myself. With th A20, I can speak normally when it is that cold. With the Bluetooth, long days aren't so bad anymore...sync my phone or iPad, and listen to music all day! I hesitated spending $1500 on a headset for a long time. Even tried the QC15 with the uFly micsetup from a friend, but found it couldn't keep up in the Twin. I finally bit the bullet and ordered th Bose...I would do it again in a heartbeat. Absolutely fantastic!
I think it is going to save my hearing on the long run, not a bad investment healthwise. I had david clarks without fancy noise reduction and they worked fine, but this is something else!

Other than that, I love the bluetooth function. Encountered an amergency situation once and would have been glad to have that feature back then to call the emergency services. Moreover, it is useful in case of radio failiure, you can still use your phone and be able to talk despite the cockpit noise.

It is expensive yes, but well worth it. Just wait for promotions and you won't regret it!
There is a good reason why you see the vast majority of professional pilots using these headsets. You also see heli and aviation helmet makers all offer kits to fit the A20 into the helmets. They do not offer this for any other headset.
Bottom line, if you subscribe to the idea that "Buy nice or buy twice" you will want these. They will last you a lifetime.
