U94 PTT System Military Adapter 2 Pin 7.0mm Plug Push to Talk for Kenwood/Baofeng Radio: GPS & Navigation
When I first got the U94 PTT System Military Adapter 2 Pin 7.0mm Plug Push to Talk for Kenwood/Baofeng Radio to connect my Earmor M32H MOD3 helmet mounted headset, I was actually pretty excited. It looks and feels quality.
Then it all kind of went down from there.
I plugged them in, and they didn't work. I could hear things really faintly, but only barely. Apparently I was hearing through the microphone. Seeing another review that someone had a friend work some magic on the unit, I decided to try opening it and seeing what I could do.
I was fairly disappointed. The solder joints had melted well up the wires, and after some metering and looking up diagrams, the the red and yellow wires were reversed on pins 2 and 3. This is an easy fix if you have a soldering iron. Less than 60 seconds after starting, I had removed the wires and re-soldered them with the yellow on 2 and the Red on 3.
The PTT button is a surface mount button that is being used in a role it was never intended. Getting it back together was a bit of a chore, and the wire lengths were such that getting it all back in was tricky too. On the plus side, while the chrome on the receptacle is somewhat poor, it does seem to be heavy enough to last well beyond the life of the rest of this unit.
In the end I got it to work, and it seems to work well enough. At some point that little button is going to fail though, and I will then replace it with something much more suited to the task at hand.
I give it 3 stars over all. It works well for the price and that is the key thing, but the button and having to swap the wires are worth dropping two stars (possibly more) in my opinion.
Go ahead and get one of these, just know you have a little troubleshooting to do once you have it in hand.
Hooked it up to radio and Peltors with sound coming out of the peltor mic. Took it to a buddy that understands electronics better than me and he was able to switch things around to where it works properly. QC for this company is nonexistent as this seems to be a repeat problem.
Great product for the price. It works well with the radio and headset.
Returned. Didn't work. Wouldn't plug into radio. Build quality is low.
Work very well with my FAST headset. Radio connection operate pretty good.

They wired it backwards, when I plugged my radio into it sound started coming through the microphone, now I have to take it apart and rewire it to make it work
I own a Hesenate HT-UV8R Plus and a Baofeng BF-F8HP which are almost the same radio. This PTT works fine on the Hesenate but not my Baofeng. Not really sure why but I was hoping to use this with my Baofeng.
Comms works great with my paintball helmet on.
