Overall the product functions as advertised; except for one very important matter: If there is any breeze or wind it interferes with the wearer's ability to hear. For example, I could not hear verbal instructions, given by a range official, at a firearm range. The range officials were wearing a different brand of ear muffs and the wind did not interfere with the ability of the wearer to hear other people speaking. The surface of the microphone, on their ear muffs, had a fuzzy texture; while the Walker's brand microphone surface was smooth. I contacted the Walker's company, directly, and they stated they have no accessory to fix the problem. I am a police officer and purchased the product, specifically, so I could hear the range instructor. Because a slight breeze defeats the sound amplifying function, I do not recommend these earmuffs, until Walker's fixes the problem.
Like the title says...
Having used both extensively, they litterally do the same thing.
The biggest complaint about these is the "wind" noise. The Howards do as well. For the people that think there is no muffle foam material to prevent wind noise, these have them built in under the metal screen, in front of the speaker. Whereas, the Howards have the muff exposed to the elements. This ends up causing the Howards muff to wear out with tough use. I believe this to be a better protective design and for the price, these are better than the Howards.

Info below, I know what you're thinking, for the price of all this you might choose a more expensive option all together but, hey, it works.
"Yay for that." -John Lovell

Recommend the Qore Performance headband pad and Noisefighters ear (gel) cushions to use with this or the Howards; whatever one you end up going with. Though if I had to choose one, definitely the gel ear cushions.

If you choose to go with the Walkers and add the gel ear cushions, you'll need an adapter plate to go with the gel cushions.

They work just as specified and look great. I recommend for indoor or outdoor ranges but generally take in ear plugs to wear under them for indoor range. The audio is good but obviously don’t expect Dolby level surround sound or anything. The 0.2 second cutoff works like a charm and protects from loud spikes (I.e., gunshot or fireworks).

The USA flags are also both facing the correct way unlike some here have suggested. One of then flags is “backwards” because it is supposed to be blowing into the wind (imagine the Star side having a pole through it). This is how it appears on all US uniforms and military apparatus for all of history.
I purchased the walker razor slim from the reviews everyone was giving them. I like how compact they are when folded and how slim they are when you are wearing them. I took them to the range today for the first time to see how they perform. Well I must say I’m very disappointed in how they are suppose to muffle the sound of gunfire. I was next to someone with AR 15 and the sound was deafening granted it was a rifle. Will 3hrs later my ears are still bothering me. So these are going back for a refund. I tried on a pear of peltor tactical 500 that a employee at the range had and what a big difference so I’m going to invest in a pair of peltors.
So I have had 3 pairs of these. 1 got stolen out of my truck, 1 i bought to replace those, and 1 i got for christmas, to go on my helmet when I get the correct mounts. These are by far the best ear pro I have ever had. Which is why I've had 3 pair. The noise cancelation is amazing. It's so effective there is virtually no need for double (soft ear pro) hearing protection. Before this I owned a few other brands on non-electronic ear pro. And I always had to wear soft ear pro in conjunction with them because it was still quite loud. They are the most comfortable hearing protection I have put on. And you name it I've tried it. I'm a Marine. I shoot professionally and recreationally, so I have alot of range time and alot of time on this ear pro. Tje electronic part actually applies ambient noises and voices, so honestly you'll hear much better with these on than off. It's actually quote impressive technology for the price you pay. For ANY shooter. I highly reccomend this product. The only draw back with these is it is hard to hear noises that are behind you. So if some one is talking behind you that can be alittle quieter than anything infront of you. But this draw back is easily dismissed by how loud you can actually turn these up and keep them hearing safe. Check them out. You wont regret it.
