We bought 20 of these for a family cruise of about 20 people on one of the Oasis class ships, the largest cruise ships in the world. We were THRILLED. I mean, this saved the vacation. These ships carry 5,400 passengers and 2,100 crew; so, we found we almost never noticed the same people twice, and gathering those in our group would have been impossible except for scheduled dinner time.
Other folks who noticed the walkie-talkies and the clear communication would frequently tell us they wished they had done the same.
We tested on-land range at 1 mile with many obstructions (houses and trees), and we could still communicate. The interference at this range was starting to get uncomfortable, though.
On ship, we could easily communicate with folks in Port and within miles to unobstructed land (like the beaches near the cruise ship with line-of-site).
Range on ship is dramatically reduced by all the steel. Here are our results:
Deck 9 aft to Deck 16 mid: Perfectly clear (almost had line-of sight given we had an interior balcony that could see deck 16)
Deck 16 midship to Promenade Deck 5: Some interference
Deck 3 midship to Deck 9: Not possible (if there was possible line-of-site, like with balconies, it would likely work)
Forward to aft of ship: Only worked when on the top decks
The battery life is fantastic; most people only had to recharge once on our 7-day cruise. I bought a 3-port USB adapter so I could charge my phone and both talkies for our room (the talkies come with two single USB-to-AC adapters which can become problematic on most other cruise ships which have very limited power outlets), but ended up not really needing to worry about charging much.
Channel selection comes with a convenient, audible announcement of the new channel - very helpful.
We were almost always able to communicate, and these walkie talkies significantly optimized the time we could spend together (instead of looking for each other!).
We bought a set of 10 of these for our farming operation. We really only needed 6 radios, but for the price and convenience of having a few spares went with the 10 pack. The signal on these is clear for about 2 miles, but you can still get static reception up to about 5 miles. We are usually within 2 miles of each other so this works great for us. I did buy the separate Sabrent 60 watt 10- port charging station to go with these. It would be nice if it were a little more clear that the charging block is not included with this pack of radios. With the radios and charging station it calculated out to $17.50 per radio which seems like a great deal. Overall I am happy with this purchase.
Ordered one set of 10 for one of my production teams. They liked it so much they talked with my other team about how good they were & I needed to order another 10 for that team. I work in production almond / walnut farming & now that my spray teams have the radios, my weed control teams would like them also. Now need to order another 10. First group of radios came with ear pieces. Second set didn't come with ear pieces, but they were shipped separately. Will let you know about the third set. The first radios were left on the road side next to my mailbox. Luckily a good neighbor saw them & picked them up before they could be stolen. The shipping company was not one of the normal ones that Amazon has used to ship to me. I notified Retells about the issue. The next set came via UPS not the other company.
I purchased these to use at our preschool so teachers could easily communicate with our support staff. We have had two other sets of (hand me down) walkie talkies....that worked...sort of.
These have been phenomenal. Everyone says they are easy to hear and are clear. The range is phenomenal and we have had almost no interference from other users.
I did buy a usb box to plug them in as the description notes that they do not come with wall plugs to charge them. However, my box had a wall plug for each unit along with the cord and base.
I bought 8 of these to use for a business. They are great little radios, small and simple looking, no big antenna to get caught on your clothes, yet they go plenty far for our business site, a large lumber yard and hardware store. No signal issues, despite the small antenna. Audio is great. Tiny, yet well designed to be comfortable to carry and use. Works great with the headsets that came with them. They have a VOX (voice operated transmit) feature, which is optional of course, so you don't have to press a button to talk. We don't use that, but nice to have the option. CAN'T BEAT THE PRICE, for what you get! Will get more for our business as we expand. Nice having everyone connected and working together, wherever they are.

Battery life is fine. Selecting the channels are slightly obnoxious as there is a heavy accent in saying the numbers. Dials do not really click so you can accidently change channels without knowing. Also 4 of the 10 ear pieces failed. Not to mention really uncomfortable.
Very good sound, very little background noise during transmission. The radios are well made with good materials. The Talkabout radios claim to have 35 mile range but in real-life situation in a suburban neighborhood, with 1 and 2 story houses in between, they can not go beyond half a mile. I was able to transmit 2.5+ miles in these RT-6S without any issues. You can use them with MSC-20B or MSC-20D nylon radio cases to carry the radio close to the body.
I purchased 10 and used 8 at a time to manage couple of large indoor events (drama show). Later my kids are using couple of those around the home. Very high quality build. Easy to operate. voice quality is acceptable. All changes work good. Battery holds charge that lasts for days. On given day I have used at least 2 hours talk time and still had juice left. Overall good value for the money. Totally recommend it.
